Still Life
I chose to photograph my field hockey equipment to make my still life. It is one of my cleats and my goggles. I picked them because field hockey is my favorite sport to play and I absolutely love it. I arranged my objects so that they would be laying on top of each other, then so just the goggles were in focus and the cleat was in the background. I arranged them so that each object would have a shadow and it would create positive and negative space with the shadow lines (from the goggles). I moved the lights closer and toward the side so that the shadow would be longer and more defined.
Found Objects
I chose to photograph the cactus pears on my counter for the found objects. I picked this because I walked into the kitchen and my dad was putting them on the counter and the way they were placed was good for this assignment. The light is overhead and creates a slight shadow that contrasts with the pinks and yellows on the fruits. I turned on different kitchen lights in each photo and I zoomed in on different spots to create different points of view. In the first two photos that show all of the fruits they look like harmless little pears but in the zoomed in pictures you can see the prickles and thorns on them which shows that things are not what they seem until you observe closely.
