Photo One
This photo was taken for the motion assignment. Compositional elements in this photo are that it follows the rule of thirds and has a diagonal line of light that creates a triangle. Also the different colors make the picture pop. The technical aspects of the photo are that the shutter speed was long and slow. These create blur in the person in the photo. It is artistically strong because it is very unexpected and looks like a ghostly figure.
Photo Two
This photo was taken for the motion assignment. Compositional elements are the repeating shapes made by the leaves and the brick wall has rectangles in the background. The one different color leaf in the front is the focal point and still stands out even though it is not as much in focus as the brown leaves. Technical aspects are that the white balance on the camera was set to outdoor setting and the ISO was lower because of the daylight. The shutter speed was relatively high to freeze the action of the leaves falling. The photo captures the everyday action of the leaves blowing in the wind.
Photo Three
This photo was taken for the painting with light assignment. Compositional elements are that the light makes many lines that go all throughout the photo and there is one white line that stands out because it is a different color than the other lines. This photo also follows the rule of thirds. Technical elements are that the exposure was really long so that the lights created lines and the people were in more than one place. The contrasting colors make everything stand out and it is all in focus. This photo was very unexpected because of the two people who are in more than one place in the same picture and it used flashlights in a way that is not usually seen.
Photo Four
This photo was taken of the Braga Bridge. Compositional elements are that the bridge has lines that create triangles that repeat throughout the architecture. It was taken from a distance and the trees in the front make the bridge seem farther in the distance. Technical aspects of the photo are that it was taken at sunset so the lighting on the bridge is different that during the day. The photo is all in focus but the bridge still stands out against the rest of the subject matter. The ISO was set high because of the distance was far away. This is artistically strong because it makes you look at the bridge in a way you normally would not.
Photo Five
This photo was taken for the depth of field assignment. Compositional elements are that the railings create leading lines that take your eyes through the photo and they also create rectangles that repeat throughout the photo. The point of view is below the stairs. Technical aspects of the photo are that it is a shallow the depth of field so that the first railing is all in focus and the background is blurred. The photo is in color but the white parts stand out compared to the off- white colors. The shutter speed was slow because of the amount of light. The photo is artistic because it is an interesting point of view making the subject matter seem more interesting than an ordinary staircase.
Photo Six
This photo was taken for the framing assignment in New York City. Compositional elements used were the many lines to frame the tree in the middle that is a triangle shape. The point of view is straight on and you can see the lights reflecting on the building. Technical aspects of the photo are that the whole picture is in focus and all in color. Since the picture was taken at night the ISO on the camera was higher. I took this picture because it was an important landmark.
